How to Shut Off Your Main Water Valve
In the front or side of your house, find the house valve.
If it's a handle-type valve, turn it ¼ to shut it off.
If it's a round handle-type, turn it clockwise to turn it off.

Then, open a hose bibb to relieve the pressure.

To shut off your entire property's water...
Every house has a meter box at the street curb. Open the box (careful of the spiders). You may see a ¼ turn valve. Turn it a ¼ turn to shut the flow off. NOTE: Not all homes have a valve that you may turn off.

To shut your water heater off...
At the tank, up on top you should find a ¼ turn or round type valve, (see tip #1), shut the tank off the same way described in #1 direction.

If you have toilet water coming up in your shower or bathtub and nothing in the house drains out...

In your front yard, open the mainline clean-out by pulling the cap off or spin a threaded cap off to relieve the pressure and allow sewage to spill into yard. Better than in your house!. Call Plumbtastic for service.
If you have a kitchen stoppage...

Open the outside clean-out (if you have one). Right behind your kitchen sink. Call Plumbtastic for service.
To turn off your gas meter...

To turn your gas off, find the slotted valve and turn the valve ¼ turn to shut the gas off. Call Plumbtastic for service.
